Justina’s father is from country near the Daly River, NT and her mother is from Kalumburu. Justina’s dreaming are the bush Jirlinya (female bush spirit) from Doon Doon country (between Kununuura and Warmun), and she has a second dreaming which is Kandan (the stars). Justina lives at the Kalumburu community and has been watching her grandmother, Mary Punchi Clement, painting for the last few years and started painting herself in 2012. Her grandmother has taught her about her famil’s traditional culture and she possesses considerable knowledge of the local rock art in the area and the ancient drem time stories that go with them.

Justina started seriously painting at the age of 16. Now at the age of 20, she is passionate about sharing the culture of Kalumburu through her art work. She is also a powerful story teller and cultural ambassador.

Justina’s paintings reflect her knowledge in a contemporary interpretation.
