About Us

Bim Bam Brisbane – home of Indigenous Fine Art and Craft

bim bam brisbane is an Aboriginal Art Gallery presenting an extensive and broad range of Aboriginal fine art & craft including: paintings, baskets, pottery, carvings and memorial poles and a wide selection of Aboriginal art books.

The gallery originally opened in November 2005 as bim bam byron bay as the culmination of Barbara Newland’s passion for Aboriginal art and culture. Barbara’s love of Aboriginal art and craft developed during the years she spent working in remote communities in the Northern Territory and she travels regularly to central and northern Australia in search of high quality Aboriginal art for the Gallery collection.

In 2012 the decision was taken to take a break and during a 5 year hiatus Barbara and Danny lived and worked in the Northern Territory and travelled extensively across the Top End, including the far west Kimberley Region.

Barbara and Danny have now re-established their gallery in Scarborough on the Redcliffe Peninsula, ½ and hour north of Brisbane Airport, and are excited at the prospect of again sharing their enthusiasm for Aboriginal art.

bim bam brisbane is committed to maintaining the highest of ethical standards. All works are sourced directly from the representative Aboriginal arts and crafts co-operatives (owned by the artists) or from reputable art galleries with substantial track records and industry experience.

Barbara and Danny delight in fostering Aboriginal artists to become independent entrepreneurs in their own right and enjoy enriching peoples’ experience of indigenous art and culture. Together they have established an ongoing relationship with many customers who stay in touch via email.

At bim bam brisbane we are often reminded that there is a growing connection to and recognition of Aboriginal art. Many people have visited northern and central Australia and others are extremely knowledgeable and love the art itself. The Gallery has such a broad range of quality work that most people can find something that they really like, whether starting their collection with something small or needing a larger artwork to enhance their living space. We are always getting comments from people telling us how much they enjoy the variety of paintings on offer and we are delighted to have many repeat customers who appreciate bim bam’s collection of carefully chosen Aboriginal art and craft.
