This is a place called Rose’s Yard near Alice Downs Station. Evelyn says that “this is my grandmother’s country” and that when she was a young woman her and her family members would walk from Alice Downs to Rose’s Yard to visit.
Evelyn has painted the scenery of her country – where in the front the artist has included a flat clearing with anthills, sitting upright. In the back are the rugged earthy hills of her country (Alice Downs) and trees in the mid-ground.
This brown form in the middle of the orange range is a cave near Rose’s Yard, on Evelyn’s mother’s country. There is water inside this cave. Just as Evelyn went there with her mother, she also visits the area with her son and his wife.
